While most access to FamilySearch requires an account, some of the information is publicly available. These public pages are called Ancestor Discovery pages. Everyone can see this information straight away – no FamilySearch account is needed.
Where there are links to FamilySearch on this website, the link will normally go to the person’s public page. Click on the screenshot below to see the same page on the FamilySearch website.

In the example above, note that there are two options in the top right corner, to Sign In (if you already have a FamilySearch account) or Create Account to get started with one.
As well as following the links on this website, you can search to see if there is a public page for a specific person.
Some things to note about public pages:
- These pages are generated from FamilySearch details and saved as a static page, which means they may be a little out of date if a recent change has been made. This will sort itself out within a few days.
- Links on a public page will sometimes work, but at other times a message might appear as per below. This just means the public page hasn’t been created yet. Over time there will be less and less of these messages.

Tip! Don’t forget, if you want to view more information in FamilySearch, or be able to make changes, you will need to get your own free account.
